This dataset is a compilation of Wyoming's mines and minerals. This dataset was developed as an aid to researching and understanding Wyoming's mines and mineral resources. All data are non-proprietary and were compiled from scientific journals, the U.S. Geological Survey, the Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS), the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WYDEQ), as well as from other state and federal agencies and various researchers.
Geologic interpretations derive from both referenced sources and available geologic maps. Status of mine sites as active or inactive as of the cited date is based on information from WYDEQ and other sources and may not be valid after that date. Because of the volume and diversity of data and information sources, it is likely that some errors are present.
