Service Description: This publication presents a 1:100,000-scale preliminary geologic map of the Firehole Canyon 30' x 60' quadrangle, encompassing portions of Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. The map provides an updated synthesis of the region's bedrock geology, integrating previous work with refinements derived from aerial imagery, lidar, and field investigations. Diverse geologic features are represented, including the southwestern Rock Springs Uplift, the eastern margin of the Bridger Basin, and the northern flank of the Uinta Mountains. Formations spanning the Late Cretaceous to the Quaternary record a complex geologic history, with lithologies ranging from marine shales and deltaic sandstones to fluvial-lacustrine deposits and volcaniclastic materials.

Comments: This publication presents a 1:100,000-scale preliminary geologic map of the Firehole Canyon 30' x 60' quadrangle, encompassing portions of Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado.
Subject: The bedrock geologic map of the Firehole Canyon, Wyoming 1:100,000 quadrangle, was developed to provide regional scale geologic mapping for city and county planning, industrial and mineral development, and general public use. This dataset is a composite geodataset that conforms to GeMS (Geologic Map Schema)--a standard format for the digital publication of geologic maps, available at http://ngmdb.usgs.gov/Info/standards/GeMS/.
