Service Description:
"The survey is split into two blocks, one covering the Hartville Uplift region (Block A), and the other covering the Shirley Mountains region (Block B). The airborne survey was mainly funded by the State of Wyoming, with a smaller contribution from the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI). The survey was designed by the Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS) and contracted by the USGS. The survey was designed to meet complementary needs related to geologic mapping and characterization of mineral resource potential. A total of ca. 83,000 line km of magnetic and radiometric data were acquired over areas totaling ca. 15,000 km2. In the Hartville Uplift region (Block A), data were collected from a fixed-wing aircraft flown at a nominal terrain clearance of 100 meters (m) above topography along E-W flight lines spaced at 200 m intervals. Tie lines were flown in an N-S direction every 2000 m. In the Shirley Mountains region (Block B), data were collected from a helicopter flown at a nominal terrain clearance of 100 meters (m) above topography along N-S flight lines spaced at 200 m intervals. Tie lines were flown in an E-W direction every 2000 m. Data were collected by NV5 Geospatial, Precision GeoSurveys, and EDCON-PRJ under contract to the USGS using aircraft with magnetometers mounted in stingers and fully calibrated gamma-ray spectrometers. The survey operated out of airports in Casper, Lusk, and Torrington, Wyoming, from May to July of 2025."

Data Release: Drenth, B.J., Brown, P.J., and Connell, D.M., 2026, Airborne magnetic and radiometric survey, Hartville Uplift and Shirley Mountains regions, Wyoming, 2025: U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P1C7TJKK.

To download the full data see USGS data release.
