Description: The Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS) serves as the primary repository for paleontological specimens collected on Wyoming state lands. The collection features a diversity of flora and fauna, including birds, bats, fish, turtles, and dinosaurs. A significant number of these specimens are from the Green River Formation, which provides a remarkably preserved record of early Eocene lake environments. In addition to curating physical specimens, the WSGS maintains the historical records and field notes that preserve the scientific context of each fossil.
Provide an organization-only catalog for finding specimens in the Wyoming State Fossil Archive, viewing approved photographs and generalized collecting areas, and planning research visits or loan requests.
