<useLimit>

Uses of this digital geologic map should not violate the spatial resolution of the data. Although the digital form of the data removes the constraint imposed by the scale of a paper map, the detail and accuracy inherent in map scale are also present in the digital data. The data was edited at a scale of 1:2,400, and higher-resolution information is not present in the dataset. Plotting at scales larger than 1:2,400 will not yield greater real detail, although it may reveal fine-scale irregularities below the intended resolution of the database. Similarly, where this database is used in combination with other data of higher resolution, the resolution of the combined output will be limited by the lower resolution of these data. Acknowledgement of the U.S. Geological Survey would be appreciated in products derived from these data.

</useLimit>

<stepDesc>D.M. Churchill scanned both the orthophoto and the mylar sheet at 400 dpi. Orthophotograph georeferenced to National Agriculture Imagery Program 1-meter imagery and ESRI compiled basemap imagery. Mylar linework then registered to orthophoto. Linework was converted to vector data using heads-up-digitizing. Polygon topology was created and each arc and polygon tagged on-screen. Points features were also then added from the compiled mapping through head-up-digitizing. Muffler made 132 additions directly in GIS, transferring data from the original field sheets by inspection. These additions are noted as "M20-###". The features designated by "M###" are field notes made by Muffler in 1966–1971, whereas the features designated by "F###' were numbered by R.O. Fournier on 18 September 1966.</stepDesc>
