Spatial extent of the WSGS subsurface interpretations

Stratigraphic interpretations from oil and gas wells throughout Wyoming were compiled or newly correlated to provide a publicly available, quality-controlled dataset of subsurface geologic information. This dataset encompasses Precambrian through Eocene formations, with a focus on established and potential oil and gas reservoirs. Contour maps of potential and emerging continuous reservoirs illustrate regional trends in formation depth and thickness.
<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This web service/layer contains a Powder River Basin Wall Creek Member of Frontier Formation and Turner Sandy Member of Carlile Shale thickness contour raster. Formation thickness was calculated from well subsurface interpretations by differencing the appropriate stratigraphic horizons. The contour raster was interpolated using an ArcGIS simple kriging method after log transformation and first-order trend removal.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
